Ride to Gioia Coffee Shop

Put my winter setup on my bicycle. I carry more stuff during the winter and I tend to stop and shop more. Don’t ride long distances during the winter.

Doing a ride to Gioia Ethiopian Coffee Shop. It is a new business and I want to check it out.

Got a honey cinnamon latte. Taste pretty good. Think I will have to put Gioia on my need a break spot.

Going to Albany Library to get some reading in before I do the pedal home.

Bicycle ride to Corte Madera Library

Taking a bicycle ride to the Corte Madera Library.

This is nice. There are new vinyl chairs to sit in. They are pretty comfortable.

Getting some reading in. It is so quiet in here. One of the quietest libraries.

Need to make the pedal home, but I’m so comfortable. It is easy to ride somewhere, but the pedal home is a different story.

Made it home. Nice bicycle ride. Not too many bicyclist out. Well at least on the route I took.

Inside the Corte Madera Library.

The final stretch for the pedal home.

Return to Point Molate

Bicycle riding around Point Molate.

The road is horrible. Have to take it slow so I don’t crash.

Richmond is working on walk/bike trail. It is going to be nice when it is finished.

Before the pedal home I sat at a picnic table and got some reading in. The sounds of the waves hitting the beach is really relaxing.

A nice bicycle ride

Ride to Albany Library

Think I will ride to the Albany Library. Looks like I’m taking the route along Cutting and the Bay Trail.

I have the kind of weather I like to ride in cloudy and cool.

Seems to be a lot of group rides heading towards the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Glad I’m going in the opposite direction.

A little artwork featuring the history of Richmond CA. Pretty cool.

Want to get some reading done so the Albany Library is a good spot and a nice rest spot before the pedal home.

Ride to YMCA and San Pablo Library

Going to take a bike ride to the YMCA for a workout. Left knee still isn’t strong enough for a long ride, but can handle a short ride.

The weight room at the YMCA is a little crowded. At least I found a spot on the AstroTurf area where I’m not too close to anyone. It was a good workout.

Going to ride to the San Pablo Library. Get some reading in and see if I can find an interesting book to read. Mission accomplished.

Survived the pedal home and the left knee feels good. Even cleaned my bicycle chain.

Bicycle Ride Rodeo Beach

On a bicycle ride to Rodeo Beach. A light ride to see how my left knee does. Going to take it slow.

This sucks during my ride it starts to rain. Doesn’t rain on September in the SF Bay Area, but the last few years September has had weird weather.

Going to hide at the Hercules Library until Hercules Library.

Knee is doing good. Still a little tender, but at least I can ride my bicycle.

Basically took the day off to test my knee and see how my Saturday bicycle ride will go. If If I take it easy I can go on a nice ride. Maybe Treasure Island.

Anarchism Explained

Anarchism is the ideal of such a condition; of a society without force and compulsion, where all men shall be equals, and live in freedom, peace, and harmony.

The word Anarchy comes from the Greek, meaning without force, without violence or government, because government is the very fountainhead of violence, constraint, and coercion.

Anarchy therefore does not mean disorder and chaos, as you thought before. On the contrary, it is the very reverse of it; it means no government, which is freedom and liberty. Disorder is the child of authority and compulsion. Liberty is the mother of order.

New Point Molate Trail

Went to Point Molate Beach to check out the new trail. It was a nice walk.

I will miss the trail some homeless artist made using wood and walking through the wooded area. The artwork on the wood was cool.

It wasn’t a trail for the family or if your legs weren’t at full strength.

Knee Sprain

This sucks. I have a knee sprain. Friday at work there was a little pain. Started to feel really sore after work.

Saturday the knee is sore. I will try a bicycle ride. This didn’t work. The left knee can’t rise high enough to pedal the bicycle. The knee is sore. A day of relaxation. Not good at sitting around.

Sunday morning the knee is sore, but I think I can go on a light hike.

That didn’t sound good. A pop behind my knee. Now the knee really hurts. Hate to do it, but off to Kaiser Emergency.

Made it to Kaiser, but I’m thinking about just going back home. I’m here might as well go in and make sure there isn’t a major issue.

The wait wasn’t really too long. Got an x-ray and ended up being told that there is no damage. Looks like a sprain knee.

I’m keeping the knee wrapped. I got an Anaconda wrap. I like it. It keeps the knee stabilized and I can walk.

Now all I can do is wait for a full healing. Bicycle riding will be out for a bit.

Lochby Mini Pocket Journal

I got the Lochby Mini Pocket Journal. I wanted something small and fit in my pocket without me noticing it wasn’t there.

I like it. Being able to zip it up is a plus. I put my clipper card, work ID, credit card and insurance card on the left side.

A small notebook for keeping track of what I do at the gym and other notes. Keep my driver’s license and medical card in back.

I can put cash in it but I usually keep cash in my pants pocket.

I really like it.

Thoughts about Nothing

Went to the Starbucks at El Cerrito Plaza and they redesigned the inside. I like the dark wood added more seating and tables. I don’t like it because it is to crowded. Waiting for drinks or food and there is no standing room. You are in the way. People are all over each other.

The job has too much drama and is a rough place to work. Everyday is Monday. There is the original Monday, second Monday, third Monday, fourth Monday and fifth Monday. Clock out and it is Friday.

Bicycle riding, going to the gym and hiking is the best for my mental health. Take a camera with me and do a little photo therapy.

Libraries are my temple. Take a break and do some reading. Enjoy the quiet.

I like how this picture came out.

CDs making a comeback. Glad I never got rid of mine and kept my stereo system. The negative, used prices going up.

Bicycle Ride to Orinda Library

Bicycle ride to Orinda Library. Going to lock the bicycle up and then walk to Nations for breakfast.

The ride along San Pablo Dam Road to Orinda is my favorite ride. Not really a hard ride but enough to give the legs a good workout and the view is great.

Orinda Library is a nice rest stop before the pedal home. Can get some reading in.

A bicycle ride to Orinda. Going to start a San Pablo Ave and Dam Road. Riding through El Sobrante.

Climbing

My way of approaching climbs while bicycle riding. First pray for death, that didn't work. Second start pedaling. Never look to far ahead. Pedal slow, I'm not racing. If I have to take a break, take a break.

When I finally make it up the hill:

Running

Don't know where the thought came from, but I'm going to see if I can get back into running. Don't know where this will lead. The only time I ran consistently was when I was in the Air Force. A little after I got out.

To get started I will be running a little when I'm on the treadmill. I will walk and then start running until I get tired. Looks like a little over a minute.

A treadmill makes getting back into running easy because the treadmill does most of the work. I just have to keep my legs moving. Running on pavement my legs do the work. Pavement does not move.

I have strong bicycling legs, but weak running legs. My legs feel heavy when I'm running. My legs are sore.

I want to start running at lunch when I'm at work. A half hour run with some walking by the water. Hopefully in a couple of months it will be running with no walking.
